OUR STORY
Drawing inspiration from the Lorimer Girls on TikTok, we launched this initiative in 2023 to bridge the gap for city dwellers heading to rural cattle stations. Our goal is to ensure you arrive prepared, knowing exactly what life in the outback entails. Our journey began in Darwin, where we were born and raised on a small acreage near Katherine, NT. We spent our formative years exploring the rugged Barkly Tablelands on a station called Kiana.
Following the 2019 drought, our family transitioned to Ooraminna Homestead near Alice Springs. This shift was monumental: we moved from a million-acre cattle station to a 600-acre property, trading tropical landscapes for the desert and pure cattle work for a blend of hospitality. By 2021, I had started boarding school in Sydney, with Savannah joining me later. Now, every holiday, we head back to the bush, working across Australia with Spur and Anvil, or assisting with the diverse retreats and commercial functions hosted at Ooraminna.

Our 'why' is derived from our constant longing to be back. Not knowing the exact reason 'why' we want to go back, because its something harder said than done. This page is something that can hopefully bring you hope and excitement more than anything else. It's hard to describe the beauty of it, but it's so easy to see. And I can understand the nauseous feeling you get when you're jumping into the unknown.Â
Something harder said than done, but something we aim to explain to you in the clearest way possible. It would be a lie and say that every experience we have been through has been a dream, but I suppose that is what makes it harder to leave. The adrenaline oaf it all. The challenges. It is what keeps you grounded and makes you realise that you can't exactly run away from situations. situations like you can't run away from a chasing bull, but you can certainly try to dodge the bugger. You can't run away from a mob being pushed by an angry chopper pilot, but you can certainly stay in the lead. Or attempt to...Â
Our message is; it teaches you what you can actually be and who you are. It's something that I reckon everyone needs to experience. Be brave. Get lost, but learn how to read the signs and symbols the natural world gives you to get home first. (I can't say we have truly mastered it yet, but 17 years down the track, we are getting there).
